Second Job Quest

[edit] Things to keep in mind
- Remember to start the quest first. I know it sounds daft, but I've forgetten to do that twice and wasted an hour wondering why I'm getting nothing. Talk to the Mayor in Junon as soon as you're level 70 and he'll direct you to whoever you need to talk to.
- A single first hit is all that is needed for a chance to get the item. That's it, it doesn't matter how much damage you do afterwards, but since I don't understand the drop system fully, it'd be best to just keep attacking and attempt to land the last hit as well.
- Shouting "GM MORE KINGS PLS I'M DOING QUEST" will NOT help at all. There aren't any GM's watching Kenji Beach and spawning Krawfy Kings for you all, in fact GM's couldn't care less about your incapabilities to complete the second job quest.
- Buffs will help you attack things faster, but they are not necessary to complete this quest. You can fight without them.
- Some sections of the quest may take painfully long to complete, but as long as it does not take you longer than two days, your probably doing it right. But don't give up if you just can't get it, you won't progress if you do that.
[edit] Gearing up
Charm helps in getting the quest items, so before setting off you should have the Gorgeous jewelry set, a Bow Ribbon purchased from the Stylist in Junon, a Bumblebee Shield that's also found at the Stylist in Junon, a high quality mask with Charm, some HP potions and about 5000 ammunition of whatever weapon you use. Below are my preferences for weapon choice. In general, launchers and bows are the most favourable weapons for doing this because the launcher has the longest range and the bow is for fast runners.
If you can afford it, I highly recommend buying yourself a Battle Machine Gun (BMG) for your cart. I have completed the quest twice with the BMG and both times I have finished the Kenji section in under an hour and never reaching above level 73. The BMG's advantage is stupendous range, combined with your cart's natural high speed. The range of the BMG is beyond all other weapons, I'd estimate it to be about 60 metres. Basically, this means if you stand in one spot, you barely have to move to get that first hit. When you're in a cart, all your gear's bonus stats aren't included, so charm will be stuck at 10. But this doesn't matter because you'll be getting first hits almost everytime. If you actually have a BMG, the hardest quest won't ever be the second job. It will be the cart quest because it's the only challenging quest which you can't complete with a cart gun.
[edit] Soldier
Every soldier should have Strength, equip a Launcher as they have the longest range, which will help a lot as Soldiers don't have much speed. Ammunition of choice are Poison Bubbles because of their zero weight, meaning you can carry as much as your inventory allows. Dexterity soldiers should also use cannons because their crossbows won't have as much range, unless they happen to own a Knight Killer which has a longer range than launchers of a similar level.
[edit] Hawker
If you are using a bow then it is OK when getting a first hit, but if you are using Battler Weapons then you have to rely on your speed and reflex in order to get a first hit.
[edit] Muse
Muses that pump only intelligence at this point should be using a Wand for the range. Dexterity Muses should use Bows. Muses with 28 Strength or more can use a Launcher, with Poison Bubbles for weightlessness.
[edit] Dealer
Guns for no Strength, Launchers for those with Strength. Poison Bubbbles for Launchers, any weightless bullets for Guns.
[edit] Location
Where you decide to camp is the most important part of this quest section. You have to be aware that boss monsters will only spawn in spots where smaller monsters are being killed often. If there's an area where there's 5+ monsters and no one is killing them, kill them repeatedly in that area to open up the area as a potential boss spawn. If your computer can't handle the lagfest of 40 players onscreen at one time, this will be your only worthwhile strategy.
Below are maps pointing out the areas where these boss monsters can spawn.

[edit] Strategy
There's a few strategies to use in this quest. If you want to do all the work yourself and there are bunches of smaller monsters in the vicinity of those red squares and there are no players, kill them over and over and stay there. You'll have to remain alert at all times and use your camera to flick the view around quickly. Keep doing this to ensure you'll catch the first glimpse of the boss, neighbouring players will be as fast as you at doing this. There is a nice camera mod from NPHSalliance which let's you zoom out way further, letting you see much more around you so there's less camera flicking to do, that can be found here.
Then there's the cheapo way and that's to steal the first hit from other players work. The important thing to do here is that if there are other players standing in the red squares shown above, examine them, if they have a dual client Cleric close by (and therefore are buffed) and wearing good gear, they will get the first hit before you unless the boss happens to spawn closer to you. So don't waste your time trying to steal from them. If there are players in another spot that look like you but are using similar weapons to you, camp near them and just spin the camera around for that first glimpse, you'll have a decent chance of scoring it.
